SUB 122 | (506) 453-4995

Arafat is the Director of Communications at the UNB Student Union. A Management student pursuing an Honours in Accounting with a Minor in Economics and a concentration in Finance, Arafat brings creativity, tech-savvy skills, and a sharp eye for design to the communications team. Originally from Hyderabad, India, and raised in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, he blends a global perspective with strong campus engagement.

In his role, Arafat manages all things media for the SU from the bi-weekly newsletter and website updates to leading social media on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. He also designs promotional materials, oversees the SU mascot and associate directors, and ensures a consistent, high-quality brand image across everything the Union shares.

This year, Arafat is focused on rebuilding student engagement post-COVID by making communications more interactive, visual, and fun. His goals include refreshing the website, expanding the reach of the newsletter, and producing creative video content that reflects student life. He’s also excited to enhance the year-end magazine with new features.

Passionate about both finance and design, Arafat sees this role as a way to connect with students and show that the SU is a student-led space that’s open, creative, and community-driven.

Paula is the Director of Food Services at the UNB Student Union. A Finance student in the Faculty of Business Administration, Paula grew up in New Brunswick after being born in Guatemala, and she’s passionate about making a tangible impact on campus.

In her role, Paula is responsible for supporting and improving food security for UNB students. She oversees key programs including the UNBSU Food Bank, the Fresh Food Bag Program, and the Weekly Breakfast Program. Her work ensures students have access to healthy, affordable food options year-round.

Paula’s goal for this term is to continue strengthening these existing programs while exploring new initiatives that address food insecurity and promote wellness. She’s dedicated to making sure no student is left behind when it comes to essential needs like nutrition and support.

Inspired by the opportunity to give back, Paula joined the SU to contribute meaningfully to her community. Her long-term ambitions lie in the world of finance, particularly in financial planning or venture capital, but she remains deeply committed to social impact in everything she does.
