Funding Opportunities
Each year the UNBSU awards more than $100,000 in funding support to various students and student groups on campus. Funding is administered by the VP Finance & Operations in collaboration with other players depending on the specific fund.
SU Funding is awarded on a first come, first served basis for eligible members and student group applicants as funding lasts.

The SU Conference Fund was established to help UNB students attend conferences, competitions, or events that support their academic or professional development.
The most funding a student can receive is $500 per academic year
To qualify:
You must be a current UNBSU member (UNB Undergraduate student)
You must submit a complete application including expected costs
You must apply at minimum 2 weeks before the conference date
The only items that qualify for funding:
Registration fee
Accommodation
Travel costs
Items that don’t qualify for funding:
Social trips or general travel
Events not directly related to your academic or professional growth
Food costs
Local Transportation (Taxies, Rideshares, Public Transport)
Materials used for Conference (Equipment, project materials)

The UNBSU and UNB Sustainability partnered to create the Student Sustainability Fund (SSF) for the UNB Fredericton campus. The projects carried out by students, clubs and their partners will help cultivate a culture of sustainability on campus and provide students the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at their university.
The fund is supported by students - $1.00 per student per term of the SU Fee, is allocated directly to the Sustainability fund.
The fund can support a wide range of projects, including but not limited to:
Aboriginal sustainability
Zero/low-waste projects
Engagement or awareness campaigns
Energy reduction/sustainable energy
Recycling, reuse, up-cycling projects
Individual students, clubs, and societies are welcome to apply for funding to support their sustainability work on campus.
Applications are jointly reviewed by UNB Sustainability and the UNBSU VP Finance & Operations. Decisions regarding project eligibility and funding amounts are made at their discretion.
Only UNBF students can apply for the fund. The fund cannot be used to attend sustainability conferences.

The Clubs & Societies Fund supports UNBSU-ratified clubs and societies in hosting events and initiatives that enhance student life and benefit the UNB Fredericton community. The fund is intended to help student groups deliver meaningful, inclusive, and well-planned programming on campus.
Funding is administered by the UNBSU Vice-President Finance & Operations in accordance with the Clubs & Societies Policy.
To be eligible, clubs and societies must:
Be ratified and in good standing with UNB and the UNBSU
Submit a preliminary budget by September 30 each academic year
Demonstrate fundraising efforts, if requested
Show a clear benefit to the UNB community
Submit a detailed event budget (revenues and expenses)
Submit one funding request per event
Applications are reviewed within 7 business days of submission. Funds are issued through reimbursement after receipts are submitted to the SU Welcome Center, or through direct payment upon submission of an invoice.
Clubs and societies are entitled up to $2,000.00 per academic year. Additional funding may be granted to clubs for exceptional, high impact initiatives, at the discretion of the VP Finance & Operations.
The following are not eligible for funding:
Alcohol or cannabis
Expenses for non-students
Surplus or profit-generating budgets
Loan or debt payments
Protests or rallies

All ratified clubs and societies have access to a maximum of $200 in start up fundings. Clubs have 60 days from the date of ratification to utilize this funding.
Applications are reviewed within 7 business days of submission. Funds are issued through reimbursement after receipts are submitted to the SU Welcome Center, or through direct payment upon submission of an invoice.
