myUNB Intranet: Tips & Tricks

For current students, you may have noticed that the previous myUNB portal, eServices, and InsideUNB have all been decommissioned in favour of one new one-stop-shop website for UNB Community Members: the myUNB Intranet site! The links, services, and information that would have been found in the portal or in eServices are now all available on the Intranet SharePoint site. We are going to provide some quick tips and tricks so you can learn how to use the Intranet as efficiently and easily as possible. If you have questions, you can always reach out to UNB’s Information Technology Services department.

The myUNB Intranet site can still be accessed by going to unb.ca’s homepage, and selecting “New myUNB Intranet” from the dropdown menu under “UNB Students, Faculty, & Staff”.

The “Waffle Menu” is the square icon made up of 9 dots, located in the top left-hand corner of the myUNB Intranet page. It is also located in the same place when using any Microsoft 365 (M365) apps such as Word, Teams, and Outlook.

site navigation menu

Using the “I am …” dropdown menu, select “Student”. This will bring up a homepage with services often accessed by students, such as D2L Brightspace, UNB Libraries, the Registrar’s Office, and more. It will also give you quick access to the “Departments & Resource Sites” menu.

sharepoint navigation bar

The “SharePoint Navigation Bar” is the bar located on the left side of the screen, which hosts 4 icons to help access the homepage and your frequently visited sites and files easily. If you are using a mobile device, this bar is located across the bottom of your internet browser.

From top to bottom, these icons are:

Home: use this icon for global navigation or to return to the homepage.

My Sites: use this icon to access your frequently visited sites and services.

My News: use this icon to see UNB news notifications.

My Files: use this icon to access recently opened and edited files from your M365 apps.
