Meet Emmanuel Essien

Emmanuel Essien is the Vice President of Student Services and Supports at the UNB Student Union and a Political Science student in the Faculty of Arts.

Originally from Abuja, Nigeria, with roots in Cross River State, Emmanuel is dedicated to improving student well-being and non-academic services on campus. He oversees key programs like SafeRide, the Food Bank, Fresh Food Bags, the Bike Co-op, and student health and dental plans. He also leads recognition-based events such as Black History Month, and Breaking Stereotypes, and chairs the Wellness Committee.

This year, Emmanuel is focused on strengthening support systems, improving affordability, and creating more inclusive spaces for students. He brings a solutions-driven mindset and a strong commitment to student voices. Inspired by a lifelong passion for advocacy and leadership, Emmanuel sees this role as a meaningful way to make real change. His long-term goals include building a career in politics, becoming a published author, and launching businesses that create social impact in his community and beyond.
