Meet Carla Carvajal
Carla Carvajal is the Vice President of Policy and Relations at the UNB Student Union and a Biology-Chemistry student in the Faculty of Science. Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Carla brings a strong background in student advocacy and a passion for creating meaningful change.
In her role, she monitors academic regulations, works to improve educational quality, and represents student voices in both academic and external policy discussions. She also leads government relations, campaigns, and policy initiatives that impact the student body.
Carla’s goals this year include expanding experiential learning, addressing food insecurity, and raising awareness about policies affecting students. She also aims to strengthen partnerships between the SU and local businesses to help students gain practical experience and better job opportunities.
Her advocacy journey began with Juventud Activa in the Dominican Republic, where she worked alongside national leaders on youth policy. Long-term, Carla hopes to combine her interests in healthcare and technology to expand access to medical resources in her home country
