frequently asked questions

Am I covered worldwide?

If an accident requiring medical attention occurs out of province or country, or you are written a prescription, you will need to pay the amount owing at the time yourself.
Once back in the province you must submit a manual reimbursement. Dental and EHC practitioners are not covered outside of Canada.

Am I covered? When does it start and when does it end?

Any full-time (registered in 3 courses per term) UNB student including sponsored and co-op students are automatically enrolled. Coverage begins September 1st and ends on August 31st. This includes any additional family coverage you have added.

Can I add my family/dependents to the plan?

Yes! To do this, please visit our Welcome Centre or call (506) 453-4955. This must be done before the Opt-out date deadline (Sept 23rd, 2022 or January 27th, 2023 for students starting in the Winter Semester).

What if I already have coverage?

If you already have coverage you may opt-out of our plan with proof of insurance. Please note that opting out will take effect for the full academic year and cannot be undone. You should also note that this coverage can be used with other plans to maximize your coverage. Opting out will also opt you out of the Student Assistance Program and extended mental health coverage we offer.

How do I make a claim?

At pharmacies and dentist offices that can direct bill, you will provide the receptionist with your Group # (513984), provider (ClaimSecure), Student ID (U00 followed by your student id number). You may have to pay a deductible. All other claims are submitted online on our WeSpeakStudent website.

My student card was not accepted at the pharmacy/dental office. Why? What do I do?

This could happen for a few reasons: if it is the beginning of the semester you may have not been added to the registration, this will be fixed on its own very soon. In the meantime you must complete a manual reimbursement.

Sometimes a pharmacist/dentist may not be familiar with the process for billing with ClaimSecure, they will have a toll-free number to call to assist. If there are still issues, call WeSpeakStudent for help at 1-800-315-1108.

How do I complete a manual reimbursement?

You will need to get physical forms, either from the Welcome Centre in room 102 in the SUB, or print them off from the WeSpeakStudent website. They will need to be mailed along with receipts to:

ClaimSecure
PO Box 6500 Station A,
Sudbury, ON, P3A 5N5.

This process takes approximately 3-4 weeks.
