SYDNEY RANKIN, PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

SYDNEY RANKIN, PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

UNB - the past year on the UNBSU Executive has presented many opportunities to fall in love with this organization and our community. I truly believe there is no better place to be outrageously ambitious and I'm thrilled to present a cohesive platform that reflects that.

Accessibility: Reducing barriers to engaging in student life or receiving a high-quality education that include and span beyond physical limitations.

Transparency: Your UNB Student Union works for YOU - of course you should be kept in the know! We believe the only way to ensure the decisions we’re making are truly reflective of the asks of students is to maintain consistent and clear 2-way communication with the student body.

Pride and Unity: Whether it’s enjoying a pitcher at the cellar or an evening spent cheering on our talented athletes, UNB doesn’t lack reasons to radiate pride with every step across campus. Our Union has taken leaps in increasing student pride this year through the introduction of the Campus Events Brand, and in advocating for student resources that help our institution rise to meet the standard of excellence set by our peers across the country - but we know we can take it further.

  • at UNB we are proud to celebrate our diversity, each student adding a new page to our already unique story. We hope to continue in efforts around Gender and Sexual Diversity, Indigenization, International Student Support, and sustainability in order to ensure all students are as proud to call our school home as we are.

MICK JEFFERIES

Hey UNB! My past three years here has been amazing and I am SO thrilled to run for VP Advocacy. I am excited to use my experiences with many different student life initiatives and feedback from students to present a cohesive platform that reflects your voice….

Advocating and highlighting physical and mental accessibility issues on campus in order to limit barriers for a high-quality education.

It is crucial that your student union are advocating on issues that are important to YOU. I will ensure better communication and transparency by presenting more opportunities for students to voice their opinions.

Creating more opportunities for folks who identify within marginalized communities to become involved in more activities to show their pride and unity in our university. At UNB, we want to celebrate diversity in an inclusive environment.

GRACE MANGUSSO, VICE PRESIDENT INTERNAL CANDIDATE

Grace’s leadership experience, energy, positive attitude, and authenticity motivate her to improve the UNB student experience both within and outside the classroom:

- Put the Student Union back in the hands of students: Ensure all students have opportunities to get involved with the Student Union through clubs & societies, student jobs, and campus events.

- Develop unity and community: Make the Student Union relevant and accessible to every student by establishing the Executive and Council as well-known, informative, and approachable resources and representatives.

- Help students take control of their education: Continue to advocate for the elimination of ‘W’s on transcripts, an extended date to withdraw from courses without receiving a ‘W’ or ‘WF’, Open Educational Resources, and an academic complaint directory.

ANTHONY GATTO, VICE PRESIDENT STUDENT LIFE CANDIDATE

With endless passion and energy in the name of improving Student Life at UNB, I am ecstatic to bring forward my vision to reinvigorating your student experience for the 2019-2020 school year. Through the elements of transparency, accessibility, and pride & unity:

  • Facilitate a unified, diverse student experience. The year of 2018 saw the introduction of the highly successful UNBSU Campus Events. We see so much potential in the brand and plan to capitalize on this through bigger, louder events which put all eyes on UNB’s bold and unique student body.

  • Enhance effectiveness and accessibility of all UNBSU Services. Whether a service is in need of revisions or simply increased visibility, we plan to ensure that every student has the means of fully utilising every resource offered.

  • Full transparency towards all resource allocation. Trust and communication are fundamental components between the Student Union and our fellow students, and we believe in full transparency when handling these sensitive assets.
