The UNB Student Health Centre is committed to providing quality primary health care. Open year round to full-time UNB and STU students. We assess and manage a wide variety of medical problems. We know the importance of wellness to a student's academic success and our goal is to help you keep interruptions to your studies to a minimum. Our services are CONFIDENTIAL.
Who can access Student Health?
- If you have been accepted to UNB or STU and enrolled in full time fall/winter classes, you can access the Student Health Centre
- ELP and Shad Valley participants have access for a one-time fee of $10 for the term
- Full time students who opt out of the UNB Student Health Insurance Plan can still use the Student Health Centre
Bring to EVERY appointment:
- a valid Student ID card
- a valid Provincial Health Card or alternate health care coverage information
International students must complete a health insurance claim form for every visit

We are able to direct bill most insurance companies, however the student will need to find out from their insurance if they require a doctor's prescription to be covered by them.

UNB Recreation Services (URec) is the campus provider of recreational programs and services. If you’re a full-time UNB student, you’re already a URec member! Your UNB UCard serves as a URec membership card. A student membership provides you with access to the Richard J. CURRIE CENTER and LB Gym/SMA Pool. Other highlights of your student membership include:
INTRAMURALS – URec offers intramural soccer, volleyball, hockey, dodgeball & more. Intramural sports (apart from ice sports) are free for student members!
GROUP FITNESS – URec offers fun and energetic group fitness class for all fitness levels! Indoor cycling, bootcamp, yoga-inspired classes & more. Classes are offered year-round, available on a drop-in basis and are free for student members!
SPORT CLUBS – URec’s sport clubs offer a wide variety of recreational, competitive and instructional opportunities. While clubs may vary in level of competition and commitment, each provide an opportunity to be a part of a team and represent UNB!
PERSONAL TRAINING – URec’s staff of certified trainers can guide, support and motivate you on your health & wellness journey. Individual & group sessions are available. UNB students receive 20% off personal training packages.

UNB Counselling Services provides a range of mental health awareness, prevention & brief intervention strategies in a safe, respectful & inclusive environment to UNB & STU students.
We provide counselling for a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, academic difficulties, grief/loss, eating issues, sexuality & gender identity.

+ Campus Sexual Assault Support Advocate
The Campus Sexual Assault Support Advocate (CSASA) on our Fredericton campus, Hilary Swan, is specially trained to provide counselling to staff and students who have been impacted by sexual violence. She can help individuals understand their options, arrange accommodations, seek medical help, report an incident, and much more.
