Brendan Finnerty
2019 Orientation Chair

Hey everyone! My name is Brendan (Bren) and I am this years Orientation Chair. I am so unbelievably excited to welcome you to UNB and to meet every single one of you! I am in my fourth year of Electrical Engineering with a focus in Biomedical Engineering. I am currently studying for my MCATs with the goal of being a surgeon. I love plants and basically have a forest in both my room and my office. I also really enjoy cooking and, even though I am pretty terrible, I love skiing. Although I am studying to be a surgeon, I am super passionate about environmental activism and personal sustainability. If you ever want to have a conversation about the environment, come and find me! I hope you are pumped to come to UNB, because I am so excited to meet you!

Madison Beairsto
2019 Vice Orientation Chair

Hey friends! I’m Madi B and I am super excited to be this year Vice-Orientation chair. This means, other than helping Bren organize orientation week, that I also run the UNB Student Union Shinerama campaign! This campaign hosts events throughout the summer and orientation week to raise awareness and money to fund research and care programs to help those who live with cystic fibrosis.

I am a fifth year BBA student from Ottawa, Ontario. Coming to UNB was a huge decision for me but I am super happy I did because it has lead to some of the most amazing years of my life. From being involved in my faculty, having part-time jobs around campus, and of course attending classes, I can honestly say that being apart of orientation week each year has been a highlight. In my spare time, I love to do puzzles, read a good teen fiction book, and tell bad jokes to friends. I am super excited for you all to experience UNB and get a fantastic orientation week from myself and the rest of campus. See you all soon.

I work on campus during the school year at the Science Library and I'm a member of the Let’s Talk Science, and I also love meeting new people so feel free to come talk to me during Orientation and throughout the school year! I’m so glad that you chose UNB and I’m thrilled to see all of you at orientation. Get ready to meet new people and have the BEST time of your life! See you there!

Anthony Gatto

Hey UNB! I'm Anthony Gatto, a 4th year Medicinal Chemistry student as well as your UNBSU Director of Campus Events. I can’t wait to help all of you experience so many unforgettable moments throughout the week, and I promise it will be one of the best of your life. Being able to call your school home is an incredible feeling, so don’t hesitate to reach out to those around you to learn the many ways UNB can make you feel that you belong. You’ll almost always find me around the SUB or in Toole Hall throughout the year. During the summer I take any opportunity I get to travel for any music events a city has to offer. See you all soon! Get ready to make incredible memories with incredible people.

I am a second year Renaissance College student minoring in Biology. I am a big fan of plants, as anyone who has visited my room can tell, and am interning at an urban garden this summer in Halifax. I also love the Montreal Canadiens, traveling, and discussing just about anything. If you are looking to have a chat you can find me around campus during O-week and after!

Katelynn Pickel-MacDonald

Hey guys! My name is Katelynn Pickel-MacDonald (Pickel) and I am a third year BBA student majoring in Finance. During the school year I enjoy watching reality TV shows with my roommates, going for walks to the walking bridge, and hanging out with my incredible group of friends. I can’t wait for this upcoming school year and of course O-WEEK!! Some of my favorite event at UNB are Move in Day, Blast off, and HOCO. I’m looking forward to making this O-Week the best one yet. I’m excited to be working with such a great group of people and I can’t wait to meet all the incoming students. See you at the Beach!!

Matt Miller

Hey everybody! My name is Matt and I'm super excited to welcome you into the UNB family! I'm in my fourth year of biology and I’m hoping to pursue a career in a healthcare or research field. This summer I said a brief goodbye to Fredericton, my hometown, for a change of scenery for an internship in Jamaica through the QES program. When I’m not in the Science Library being a nerd you can probably find me buying food at a canteen cause I’m always hungry! I couldn't be more jazzed to be part of O-Week 2019! If you have any questions about Freddy Beach or some of the different programs at UNB I'm always open for a chat! I can't wait to meet you all when we come together to Venture Freddy Beach this Fall!!

Mick Jeffries

Howdy folks! My name is Mick and I am a part of the 2019 Black Shirt Team for Venture Freddy Beach! I am from Newfoundland and Labrador and I am beyond excited to welcome you all to our campus and help you transition into our amazing community. Additionally, I will be your Vice-President Advocacy for the UNBSU. I have just completed my B.Phil at Renaissance College and will be attending UNB Law in the Fall. I am a HUGE fan (like GINORMOUS) of hiking and doing outside activities. I am passionate about nature, advocacy, and vlogging.

Brianna McQuillan
BlackShirt: TownHouse

Hi Pals! My name is Brianna but almost everyone calls me Brie and I am going to be your TownHouse BlackShirt! I’m in my fourth year of Recreation and Sports Studies minoring in Business with the goal of getting into Sport Marketing.  I have been apart of OWeek in the past as a RedShirt and I’m stoked to be able to experience it as a BlackShirt. Before coming to UNB I did a year away studying musical theatre which I still hold close to my heart. I never pass up on an opportunity to dance so you can always catch me on the dance floor! I also have a soft spot for reality TV. A fun fact about me, last year during Blast Off I ended up putting myself into a walking cast from being so excited! I cannot wait to meet everyone and I have a feeling this is going to be the best OWeek yet! Who’s ready to get rowdy?

Adrian Bolesnikov

Hey UNB! (Hey What?) My name is Adrian Bolesnikov and I’m super excited to be part of the 2019 Blackshirt Orientation team! I am going into my fifth year of Computer Science with a dual minor in History and Math and am on a work term as a DevOps Specialist this summer. When I’m not at the Student Union Building constantly studying, I enjoy spending time with my awesome group of pals, playing piano, or adventuring around Freddy (usually for new spots to eat!) I got to be involved in O-Week as a RedShirt for first time last year and had such a great time that I had to come back again! I can’t wait to see you all, whether its as a new or returning student, for the best O-Week yet!

Grace Mangusso

Hello! My name is Grace and I’m beyond excited to be a BlackShirt for O-Week 2019! I’ve recently graduated with a B.Phil from the faculty of Renaissance College but I’m back for a victory lap to serve as Vice-President Internal on the UNB Student Union. Throughout my time on our beautiful campus, I’ve become passionately involved in student life, spent three years as a Residence Leader, and worked in Recruitment, Residence Life, and Conference Services - so I’m always ready & willing to chat or answer questions about all things UNB! There’s no better time to be a UNB student than during Orientation Week. Whether you’re a first-year student, transfer student, international student, or upper year student who wants to keep reliving the magic - Orientation Week is for everyone. I’m so happy you chose Fredericton to be your home and I can’t wait to welcome you into the UNB family!
