UNB Libraries is dedicated to supporting the study, teaching and research needs of students, faculty and staff on its Fredericton and Saint John campuses. Its many services include: research help, laptop and other equipment loans, group study rooms, access to printers and scanners, and more! Its collection includes 1.3 million print volumes, 400,000 e-books, 37,000 electronic and print journals, 3 million microforms, over 200,000 government documents, 50,000 maps, a number of specialized data sets, and more. UNB Libraries also hold a collection of rare books, manuscripts, the University Archives, and a number of other special collections.

+ Writing and Study Skills Centre

Description:

We provide individual appointments, drop-in consultations, and workshops for all full- and part-time UNB students. Our specialty is academic writing, but we also work with students to develop other abilities such as time management, note-taking, examination preparation, and presentation skills.

Description:

The Math Learning Centre offers free tutoring to all students registered in a UNB first or second year math or stat course. Services include a Drop-In Centre, Private one-to-one tutoring, workshops and exam review sessions. Details are emailed to qualified classes during the first week of class.

+ Student Accessibility Centre

Description:

The Student Accessibility Centre provides access to a variety of on-campus services and support to UNB Students with documented visible and invisible disabilities. The following services are provided on campus for UNB students:

  • Guidance, support, advocacy and advice from staff
  • Arrangements for instructional, classroom, and test/examination accommodations
  • Learning strategist support
  • Assistance with Canada Student Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities applications (for qualifying students)
  • Transition and mentoring support
  • Referrals to on-campus or community-based services such as counselling, psychological assessment services, writing/study skills, financial aid or health services
  • Collaboration and consultation with faculty, staff, and students about disability-related issues
  • Assistive technology assessment, training and support

+ Student Advocate

Description: The UNB Student Advocate is very knowledgeable of university academic regulations, and is skilled in working with students to help them address various academic issues. The Student Advocate provides specific assistance with the following issues:

Academic appeals – Formal appeals of failed courses or unsatisfactory overall academic standing in cases where the student has valid medical or compassionate reasons for appealing, as well as defense of reports of academic offences such as plagiarism, cheating, and falsifying records.

Grade reviews – Applications to formally review a grade which the student finds unfair.

Missed classes – Assistance to students who have a valid and documented medical or compassionate reason for being absent from classes; the Student Advocate will notify professors of student absence in such special situations.

Description:

The Office of the Registrar (RO) engages with UNB students at every stage in their academic journey. The RO provides a wide range of services in co-operation with faculties and departments. The RO is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the student academic record and as a key campus service provider, offers information on admission, course information and registration, grade reporting and degree audit, graduation, and issues official academic transcripts, among other services. The RO strives to provide the most current, up-to-date information and is a resource to assist students from initial application through to graduation.
