Other Services Provided to Clubs & Societies
In addition to funding support, the Student Union provides a number of other services to Clubs & Societies in order to facilitate your group's day-to-day operations.
Events Promotion
The student population receives large benefits from clubs and societies hosting events. The Student Union is happy to help advertise sanctioned club or society events in our media resources. When you are holding an event, simple contact the Union's Marketing Manager and provide him/her with details of where, when, an event description, etc. He/she will make sure that the event is publicized on places like the Union's website, posters, event calendar, etc. The Marketing Manager can be contacted at marketing@unbsu.ca.
Movie Rights
The Student Union has movie rights that allow public presentation of most movies that are out there. First, check out criterionpic.com to see if they have the license to the movie you would like to show, then e-mail Jordan, the VP Finance & Operations, at finance@unbsu.ca with the name of the movie you would like to show and when. You will still need to rent the movie yourself! Movie nights are simple events that allow Clubs & Societies to raise money for themselves or charities and they're also good for getting people together and promoting your society.
Equipment Rental
The Student Union has a projector and screen for use. Drop by the Welcome Centre, SUB 102, and fill out the rental form. You must fill out the form at least one week in advance. You also must be a signing authority to rent the equipment. The screen is large and heavy, so you might need a vehicle for transportation if it is going outside of the SUB.
Meeting Location
Recognizing there were very few areas on campus where the executives of Clubs & Societies can meet, the Student Union invested in the Think Tank. Located in SUB 126 (in the Student Union hallway), the room has nice leather chairs, a projector screen, a whiteboard, and the beginnings of a small Student Union library. Mailboxes
Each Club & Society that the Union recognizes is eligible to receive mailbox space in the Welcome Centre. Once your group has submitted your constitutional documents and your status is verified you can contact Jordan, the VP Finance & Operations, at finance@unbsu.ca to set up your mailbox.
Photocopying & Faxing
Each Club & Society recognized by the Union is permitted to access the Union's photocopier for a reasonable amount of group related photocopying needs. Simply drop by the Welcome Centre and speak with one of the Administrative Assistants. They will look at the materials you want to copy, make sure they are group related, and will set you up to make the copies you need. The same applies to faxing.
