Albert Ross Society

The Albert Ross Society is the English Undergraduate Society at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. The name of the society is derived from an undergraduate student who, many years ago, wrote an essay about the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Having not actually read the poem, this student wrote his essay based on the verbal accounts of others, and heard "Albert Ross" rather than "Albatross." Hence, he wrote his essay such that a man played the role of what was actually a bird, and the rest, as they say, is history.
