Health and Dental Plan Overview

As a full-time undergraduate student at UNB you are automatically enrolled in two benefit plans to supplement any Canadian provincial health coverage. The following are just a few highlights of the many benefits our Health and Dental plan offers to you and your family.

For the complete coverage refer to the 2012-2013 edition of our health and dental handbook (also available at the Student Union Welcome Center in the lobby of the SUB or at www.wespeakstudent.com) for further explanation of benefits provided by the plan.

Both brochures and reimbursement claim forms are available in the Student Union Welcome Center located in the lobby of the SUB.

Health Plan and Benefits

o 80% of prescriptions using your UNB student ID as a pay-direct card.
o Accidental benefits with coverage for ambulance, tutorial, medical equipment and specific loss.
o Vision - $65 towards one eye exam, plus $120 towards contacts, frames or lens every 24 months.
o Paramedical - 80% up to a maximum of $300 for services rendered by a psychologist, speech therapist, natropath, chiropractor or physiotherapist if recommended by a physician.


Dental Plan and Benefits

o 100% of one examination, including any necessary x-rays.
o 100% of one cleaning & polishing.
o 75% coverage for fillings or space maintainers.
o 75% coverage of extractions and residual root removal.
o 10% of other oral surgery.
o Dental benefits to a maximum of $500 for the one year term.
o Maximum coverage per insured is $500 and is subject to a one time annual deductible of $20.

o Medical: $142
o Dental: $118

For families:
o Medical: $275
o Dental: $315

Canada-Wide Claims

Even while working off-campus you are eligible to enjoy the benefits on the UNB Student Union Health and Dental Plans. Your UNB Student ID card will act as a direct pay drug-card for prescriptions and can be used at any pharmacy in Canada. You must have a valid ID card to access the benefits.
